Manscaped

When Veo 3.1 launched, we moved fast. Within 48 hours, Manscaped had a full ad live on their channels. But this wasn’t just about testing a new tool—it was an idea waiting for the right moment. A story about confidence, humour, and control finally made possible by technology that could keep up with imagination.

We wanted to make an ad that captured confidence—the kind that’s bold, slightly provocative, and rooted in humour. The concept was ready months ago. The tech, however, wasn’t. When Veo 3.1 launched, everything changed. Suddenly, we could extend shots, control motion, and build ads with long, seamless moments that felt truly cinematic. We knew instantly it was time to make this one real.

We started with the look. Using NanoBanana, we took a rough hand-drawn sketch of our main character and turned it into something believable—stylised yet human. This step mattered. It helped us lock in the style and presence of the character before moving to the video. The attitude had to be right before we started generating the frames.

With the character in place, we used Veo 3.1 to generate the ad frame by frame. The new frame-to-frame and extend features gave us creative control like never before. For the first time, we could make the ad exactly as we imagined it. At one point, something didn’t feel right. It was late, and the team was already out having drinks. They didn’t flinch—opened their laptops from the bar, fixed the shot, and sent it back. That’s the energy it took.

As the visuals evolved, so did the story. Each iteration inspired new versions of the voiceover—tweaked, tested, and refined again. With Eleven Labs, we could adjust tone and pacing easily. It lets creativity breathe, right up to the deadline.

Around ten people from Pereira O’Dell and Silverside worked on this—creative directors, art directors, producers—plus a few more from Manscaped. It moved fast, but it wasn’t one of those “made in three hours” projects. It was intense, collaborative, and real.

Having ideas ready and waiting for the right tech is a creative discipline. It keeps you sharp and ready to move when the tools catch up. When that happens, innovation isn’t forced. It’s instant.
